How To Ask For Google Reviews (Successfully)

Do you want to ask for a Google review, but don’t quite know how to go about it? Then this is the guide for you.

#SEO

If you want your company to do well online, then Google reviews are crucial. It will help your customers to trust your brand and it also makes you seem far more authoritative. If you are having a hard time getting Google reviews, then there is a simple solution that will help you to turn everything around.

Ask for them.

That’s right. Most customers would be more than happy to provide a review for you. In fact, the reason why they haven’t done so already is usually because it hasn’t crossed their mind yet. If you can ask them politely to review your company and the service you have provided, you will usually see that most people oblige, and this can make it easier for you to get the online trust signals you’re looking for.

So, as you can see, getting more Google reviews isn’t rocket science. That being said, there are a few things you do need to take note of before you approach your customers with the idea of them leaving a review for your company.

Why are Google Reviews so Important?

As a general rule, online reviews are critical to your online business. Google makes up around 57% of reviews posted across the world. A lot of this comes down to the fact that Google is in fact, one of the biggest search engines around. Google receives 158 million monthly visits in the US, so if you want to take your business international, it’s not hard to see how you can do this by simply harnessing the power of Google reviews.

So, what else is so great about Google Reviews? First of all, they are free. They are great for your business, and they are the best way for you to rocket your general credibility. You can increase your exposure and you can also capitalise on how widely accepted Google is.

How do you Ask for a Google Review?

Before you even begin to ask for a Google review, you need to set up your business on the Google platform. When you have done this, take the time to share regular photos so you can make a good impression, and also take the time to respond to any reviews as and when they come in. You can then reach out to people.

Email

One very simple way for you to try and reach your customers would be for you to try and contact them via email. Simply outline the steps that your customers need to take and then provide a direct link. This will make it easy enough for them to leave the review. If you make your customers hunt for a link to find your company, then this will drastically lower your chances of getting them to leave a review. Getting your customer’s attention and navigating your way through all of the clutter in their inbox can be tough, so make sure that you are adopting some good email practices too.

Ask After a Milestone

If you have hit a milestone with your customer, then this can be a very good time for you to try and get a review from them. It may be that they have made a repeat purchase, that they have paid a visit to your location more than once or that they used a discount code. These milestones help you to know that the customer in question is a fan of your business, and it is very likely that they would be more than willing to leave a review if they were tasked.

Ask after Adding New Features

After you have released a new feature or after you have opened a new location, you may want to find out how your customers are liking it. Asking for a review at this point is a very good way for you to get some solid customer feedback and it also gives you the chance to resolve any issues that may have come up. It’s a good idea for you to ask a smaller group of customers what they like first, so you can then decide if you want to extend the offer to everyone. If the initial feedback is positive then ask them to leave Google reviews. If you find that the feedback is negative, then work to fix their problems and then try and give it another go. This way you can avoid things like review-gating while ensuring that your customer experience is positive all-round.

Check-In

At certain points, it is a very good idea for you to check-in with your customers so they can see how you are doing. This is very true if you know that ongoing relationships are the key to your company. If you want to do this, then using a quick questionnaire is the way to go. Using questionnaires will help you to find out how customers feel about your company, and it also helps you to find out how likely they are to recommend your company. After your customer has completed the survey, be sure to finish with a request asking them to leave a review.

Ask in Person

If you know that you often meet your clients in person, then it could be possible for you to get a Google review from them this way. It does make a lot more sense to appeal to your customers while they are online, but this is not always the best approach, especially if you have a solid relationship in person. Have a card that has the Google link printed as a reminder of your request, and so that they can go home and leave the review at a time that suits them. If you can do this, then you will soon find that it is easier than ever for you to get the result you want out of your online business.

So, asking for a review isn’t hard but you do want to make sure that you are approaching your customers in the best way. Why not see which methods work for you today?
